Home Carrfields expands Winseed business into India
The Carrfields Group has officially opened its India based seed operation Winseed Agri Private
Ltd which is a 100 per cent owned subsidiary of Canterbury Seed Company. Based in Khandwa,
Central India and Kolar, South India, the organisation currently employs 16 permanent and 10
seasonal employees headed by Business Development Manager, Arpit Desai.
Winseed, a global vegetable seed marketing company provides an alternative international
distribution channel, replacing traditional open pollinated varieties with more reliable, superior
hybrids.
Winseed owns a number of varieties and has access to a wide range of seeds from breeding
programmes from around the world with some new and exciting varieties in market now and
coming to market. The business is extensively profiling the market requirements and finding
reliable sources of varieties to fill our customer’s needs. Winseed’s Indian operation is a central
distribution point that is critical for the business as it continues to grow.
Speaking at the launch to staff members and their families, Managing Director Craig Carr
thanked everyone for coming together and shared the businesses growth plans for India. Craig
and local Arpit Desai cut an official ribbon and broke a coconut at the warehouse in a traditional
Indian opening ceremony.
Winseed Agri Private Limited currently operates in four south Indian states - Seemandra,
Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu - with expansion planned into the central and west Indian
states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan planned for the future.
