MUSHROOM COMPOST

MUSHROOM COMPOST

Spent mushroom compost is an effective, slow-release nutrient source, perfect for increasing water retention and improving soil structure.

RAW NATURAL COMPOST
Mushroom compost is the ‘substrate’ in which mushrooms grow. It’s made up of basic raw materials - 30% dry matter, composted wheat straw, chicken litter, peat, gypsum and lime. Once the mushrooms have completed a growth cycle in the compost, the substrate is rendered ‘spent’ and is ready for use as natural compost to be spread on your farm.
WEED, PEST & DISEASES FREE
All compost is subjected to high temperature sterilisation, making it completely free of any weed seeds, pests or diseases.
SOIL STRUCTURE BUILDER
The organic matter feeds the living soil below the ground, helping billions of soil organisms thrive and provides long-term benefits for the soil.
LOCALLY SOURCED
Carrfields source the spent mushroom compost from local Canterbury supplier, Meadow Mushrooms.
ALTERNATIVE NUTRIENT SOURCE
Arable farmers are increasingly looking for organic alternatives to synthetic fertilisers. Spent mushroom compost is full of nutrients and organic goodness.
