Getting the closing date on your ryegrass seed crop is one of the most important steps towards growing a high-yielding crop. Most early to mid-flowering ryegrass seed crops will now be closed, but as we roll into late October, we will see our annuals and late-flowering crops being closed for the season.

Nailing the correct closing date is a balancing act between managing bulk and not sacrificing yield. If you don’t know the closing date of late flowering varieties, watch your growth stages and close once you reach GS 31-32. Keep in mind that this will speed up as daytime temperatures increase.
